A Cotswold Christmas Round-Up
A Cotswold Christmas Round-Up.
by Guy Olson, The Equity Release Partnership
As the year wraps itself in tinsel and the Cotswolds braces for the annual pilgrimage to the Bath Christmas Market (depending on how brave you’re feeling!), that curious blend of mulled wine, twinkling lights and the creeping realisation that you’ve lost the will to queue for anything ever again, it feels like the right moment to take stock of the year gone by.
For The Equity Release Partnership, 2025 has been a year of energy, collaboration and the kind of momentum that only comes from working closely with great people. Being part of the Cotswold Networking community has brought countless conversations, introductions and opportunities, and it has been a pleasure seeing how much this group genuinely champions one another. Our network is full of smart, kind and enterprising people, and that spirit of support has shaped so much of the last twelve months.
Looking back over the last 12 months, one of the real highlights has been the chance to work more closely with leading legal firms across the region, including RWK Goodman and Awdry Law. Presenting to their teams on equity release and how it can help clients navigating later life divorce has not only strengthened professional ties, but has also helped broaden understanding of how property wealth can ease complex life transitions. These sessions have been engaging, lively and full of insightful questions, proving once again that collaboration is at the heart of good client outcomes.
There have also been moments that remind you exactly why this work matters. One client, who had been unable to work for over a year due to illness, was days away from losing his home. Being able to step in, explore his options and help him keep the home he loved was one of those experiences that really stick with you. Sometimes the biggest wins are the quiet ones, the kind that don’t make headlines but change someone’s life all the same.
Behind the scenes, it has been a year of refining processes to make things faster and simpler for clients and introducers. A new CRM system has transformed the way applications are handled, helping to bring a more streamlined and responsive experience from enquiry to completion. Clients can now track their progress through a secure portal, removing the guesswork and giving them clearer visibility. The introduction of borrowing capacity reports has also proved invaluable for solicitors working with clients going through divorce, allowing them to negotiate settlements with accurate, up to date information on what is financially possible. It’s a small change with a surprisingly big impact.
And yes, despite the talk of teams and systems, the business continues to be a one-man operation. The atmosphere in the office has been excellent, although it is admittedly hard to fall out with oneself, and the tea making responsibility always falls to me! Still, every conversation with fellow members across Cotswold Networking has felt like being part of something bigger, where ideas flow easily and everyone is quick to offer support, advice or simply a laugh at the right moment.
Looking ahead, the focus remains firmly on building on this year’s momentum, continuing to grow through partnerships with introducers, solicitors, advisers and professional connections across the South West, the Cotswolds and beyond. The goal is simple, to offer clients and introducers an outstanding level of service, grounded in clarity, integrity and a genuinely personal approach. If 2025 has been a year of strengthening foundations, 2026 is shaping up to be one where those foundations support even bigger ambitions.
But before next year gathers speed, there is still time to enjoy a little festive magic, whether that means hot chocolate in Cirencester, the turning on of lights in Cheltenham or the brave decision to tackle Bath Christmas Market armed only with determination and a scarf. Whatever the festive season means to you, I hope it brings a pause, a smile and a moment to reflect on everything you’ve achieved this year.
Thank you to everyone in the Cotswold Networking community for the conversations, the introductions, the encouragement and the shared ambition to help one another thrive. Your support has made this a genuinely rewarding year and I look forward to everything we will build together in the one ahead.
Wishing you a very merry Christmas and a happy, healthy start to 2026.”
