Four Years, Eight Groups, Hundreds of Connections – Celebrating Four Years of Cotswold Networking

February marks four years since Cotswold Networking began, and what a four years it has been.

Back in February 2022, the idea was simple. After a challenging few years for small businesses, there was a real need to bring people back together. Not on screens, not in rushed coffee meetings, but around a table. Proper conversations. Proper connection.

The very first group launched in Malmesbury at the beautiful The Old Bell Hotel. There was no big masterplan, just a hope that local business owners would value a relaxed, structured evening where they could build genuine relationships.

They did.

A year later Cirencester launched, followed by Cheltenham, Corsham, Bath, Witney, Bristol, and now Worcester, our newest group at the stunning Stanbrook Abbey Hotel. Each group has grown with the same approach, evening events, table swaps, and a focus on building long term business relationships rather than quick wins.

Angela Roberts still runs every single group herself. From organising venues and managing memberships to hosting each event, it remains hands on and personal. That consistency has shaped the culture of Cotswold Networking and kept it true to its original aim.

When asked what the best part has been over the last four years, Angela says it is simple.

“We have met so many amazing business people, that is the best bit of the job. To hear people say at the end of the evening that it is the best networking group they have ever been to is wonderful. And they always mention the same thing, how friendly and supportive everyone is.”

That community spirit was clear when the Malmesbury group celebrated the four year anniversary. The celebrations were made even more special by two beautiful number four cakes created by Dave Nelson, our very first member, from Truffle and Thyme. A brilliant local high end catering and hamper company, and a business that has grown alongside the network itself.

From one group in Malmesbury to eight across the Cotswolds, Bristol, Bath and Worcester, the journey has been steady, organic and built on relationships.

Four years in, the mission has not changed. Create welcoming rooms full of good people, encourage meaningful conversations, and support small businesses to grow.

If the last four years are anything to go by, there is plenty more to come.
