My original career was as a primary school teacher, I worked in Kidlington for 10 years teaching mainly year 3-5 (7 to 10 year olds!). My passion in teaching was always around the wellbeing of the children in my class. I was a subject coordinator for PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) and taught with the ethos of “If children feel safe, valued and happy to here, they will learn.”

I left teaching at Christmas in 2023, ready for a new challenge. I began working for ARCh Assisted Reading for Children in January 2024, allowing me to support children all across Oxfordshire rather than just the children in my class! My title is “Recruitment Manager” but as with all charity roles, I do a bit of everything within the charity- I recruit volunteers, both corporate and community, and also run our social media, attend events, create partnerships with local organisations, and work directly with our Field Workers to support schools.

ARCh Assisted Reading for Children is an award-winning Oxfordshire charity that has just had it’s 18th birthday! We recruit and train volunteers to go into Primary Schools across Oxfordshire to support children in one to one reading sessions. Our volunteers go into schools weekly for an entire year, meaning they can build a real mentoring relationship with the children they support and really see them flourish.

On a personal level, I live with my husband and our lovely dog Ruby. We love to travel- in 2025, my husband completed a “25 in ‘25” challenge which saw him travel to 25 countries across the year! Our favourite place is New Zealand, which we’ve visited multiple times, and we’re always on the look out for new places to explore. So far this year, we’ve got trips coming up to Macedonia and Canada, and we’re always open to recommendations of places to visit!
