Howden Insurance was founded in 1994 and has since grown into a global organisation. The business is firmly built around a client-first approach and has been recognised for this commitment, winning multiple awards, including Broker of the Decade in 2024.
I began my career in insurance in 2017 after deciding not to pursue teaching. At the time, I needed stable employment to secure a mortgage, and a role became available in the client services department at my local A-Plan branch (which went on to become part of Howden in 2023). I applied thinking it would be a short-term role until I found something else.
Nearly ten years later, I’m still here.
I spent my first two years in the client services team, handling mid-term adjustments and day-to-day client queries. I then moved into compliance, where I spent five years developing a deeper understanding of regulation and governance. In 2024, I joined the commercial team, where I now place a wide variety of commercial policies — from landlords and sole trader gardeners to limited companies operating landfills across the UK. One of the things I enjoy most about commercial insurance is that there is always something new to learn.
Alongside my roles, I have completed several professional qualifications, including my CII, DipCII, and ACII. I am currently working towards Fellowship, aiming to achieve the final level: FCII.
Away from work, I am planning my wedding in June 2026, and love spending time with my beautiful four-year-old son.
