Anxious, Tense or Struggling to Switch Off? A Cotswold Therapist’s Guide to Finding Calm

21/09/2026

By Hayley Edwards the founder of The Calming Room Cotswolds

A few years ago, I was struggling daily with severe headaches and anxiety. Simple tasks felt overwhelming. I knew I needed help, not just for me but for my family who needed me.

A friend suggested Hopi Ear Candling and Indian Head Massage. I had a wonderful therapist come to my home weekly, and over time, everything changed. I felt like myself again – calmer, clearer, and happier.

That experience is why I started The Calming Room Cotswolds. I wanted to help others around Chipping Norton who feel like I once did find a natural way back to feeling their best.

So many of us live in that constant state of tension – tight shoulders, foggy head, racing thoughts at 3am, sinus pressure that never really clears. We tell ourselves it’s just stress, but our body is asking for a pause.

How I can help

I am fully mobile around the Cotswolds, I bring everything to you. You can also find me at the hub in Hook Norton every Friday by appointment only

I specialise in three deeply calming treatments:

Calming Massage to release physical tension and calm the nervous system. Perfect if you hold stress in your shoulders and back.

Indian Head Massage amazing for headaches, mental overload and that inability to switch off.

Hopi Ear Candling a gentle, soothing treatment my clients love for blocked sinuses, ear pressure, tinnitus and deep relaxation.

What to expect if you’ve never tried it before

Hopi Ear Candling is deeply relaxing. You lie comfortably on your side while a hollow, herbal candle is gently placed just inside the ear. It feels warm and crackly and most clients tell me they drift off to sleep. There is nothing to worry about, I talk you through it all.

A recent client came to me with sinus pressure and daily tension headaches. After two sessions she told me she was finally sleeping through the night again and felt like herself.

My 3 quick tips to calm your nervous system today

  • Sip warm water, not cold. It is kinder on your sinuses and digestion.
  • Do 60 seconds of slow shoulder rolls and neck stretches before bed to release the day.
  • Give yourself 15 minutes with no screens after any treatment.

Let the calm last.

Your well-being matters. You matter.
